Girls Party Dress Styles
Girls' party dresses come in a variety of styles. However, this doesn't always make shopping easier. In fact, the huge quantity of little girls' party dresses on the market today can often make shopping a challenge. With so many cute options to choose from it’s hard to pick just one.
Some of the most popular styles of party dresses for young girls include:
- Floral patterns
- Stripes
- Big bows
- Lace trim
- Fine fabrics (e.g. velvet, satin, organza and chiffon)
- Rhinestones
- Beads
- Jewels
- Tulle
Tips for Selecting the Perfect Style Party Dress
When shopping for a party dress for your favorite girl consider the following:
- Type of party: The type of dress your little girl will be wearing to a wedding versus a casual birthday party will be radically different. For example, if your daughter is planning to attend an outdoor birthday with games and dancing, you don’t want her to be confined to a tight-fitting long dress with intricate beading that will restrict her range of motion.
- Season: Wearing a long black velvet dress with lace details is not an appropriate choice for an evening summer party, just as a light cotton dress with pastel colored floral prints would be a poor choice for your daughter to wear to a Christmas party.
- Location: In addition to considering the nature of the event, you should also focus on where the party will be taking place. Doing so will help you choose the party dress your little girl will be most comfortable wearing. For instance, it would not be wise to allow your daughter to wear a strapless hot pink sundress to a traditional church wedding.
- Budget: Price is a major factor in shopping for party dresses. Generally, little girls don’t get much use out of fancy party dresses. In most cases the dress is worn once or twice and then it either sits in the back of the closet or gets added to the dress-up trunk. If you're on a tight budget, consider purchasing a moderately fancy dress that can be worn to either casual parties or more formal functions. A simple, medium to light weight, neutral colored dress made of breathable fabric is a practical option. These types of dresses can be dressed up or down with jewelry and other accessories, such as scarves, belts, jeweled headbands and pretty shoes.

Additional Considerations
If you are still struggling to find just the right party dress for your little girl, you might consider adding a new twist on a classic style. Several top pattern companies offer beautiful vintage party dress styles from the Victorian era, which can be reinvigorated by using unusual materials and embellishments.
Finally, don’t forget to consider color when shopping for a party dress for your youngster. If you are attending a conservative event, then stick with neutral colors that will blend well with the crowd, such as whites, off-whites, earth tones, light pinks, or black. If your daughter likes to stand out from the crowd, then look for dresses that feature bold accessories, such as a bright colored bow or a trim. Your little girl will be able to express her inner fashion diva without attracting incredulous stares..

Hi Indika,
Five can be a challenging age. Little girls are starting to make up their own minds about what types of clothing they like and your vision and hers may be different. I hope this article helps. I've found that chatting with my daughters before going shopping can help avoid a lot of aggravation. I simply explain what type of clothing we are shopping for and what I find acceptable and what I don't, even down to colors. Yellow doesn't look good on anyone in our family, for example. Hope this article helps you as well!
